Chris Hill is an award‑winning professional photographer based in New Plymouth, Taranaki, specialising in commercial, portrait, architectural, and wedding photography. He brings extensive expertise and creative vision to each assignment, capturing compelling images that showcase people, spaces, and products with clarity and impact.

 

Chris works from his fully equipped studio or on location, tailoring sessions to your needs and ensuring every detail is thoughtfully framed and lit. I’ve followed an unconventional career path—from science to two decades in IT—before pursuing my passion for photography later in life. In my fifties, I enrolled at UCOL and completed a photography and design degree in 2018. While I’m drawn to sports photography, particularly endurance sports inspired by my love of triathlon, I embrace a wide range of genres, from portraits and landscapes to architectural and commercial work. Photography, for me, merges art and technology.

 

I was NZIPP Student Photographer of the Year 2018 and am an accredited Associate of Photography.

 

Outside photography, I enjoy swimming, cycling, running, CrossFit, travel, dance, gardening, and food.
